How It Works

Bring Your Pieces

Schedule an appointment to bring in your gown, accessories, or celebration dresses.

Drop-off appointments can be made here.

Item Review

Every piece is thoughtfully reviewed for condition, style, and bridal relevance. Only items that meet our boutique standards are accepted, ensuring each one gets the spotlight it deserves.

Priced to Sell

Once your items have been accepted, Something Borrowed determines the selling price based on brand, condition, and demand. Each item is carefully displayed to attract the right bride. Once your piece finds its new owner, you’ll receive payment.

To make the consignment process smooth, please bring gowns cleaned and free of major stains or tears, and on a hanger for easier review. It’s also helpful to share any details about the gown, such as alterations, previous use, or designer information. This helps us highlight your dress to future brides.

Curation & Acceptance

Every piece is chosen with intention.

At Something Borrowed, acceptance is not automatic. Each item is thoughtfully reviewed for:

  • Condition: Clean, well-kept, free from major stains or tears

  • Style & Fit: Aligns with the tastes and trends our brides love

  • Brand & Demand: Designer or sought-after pieces that resonate with our shoppers

We celebrate gowns of any age, but only those that meet current style expectations and bridal demand will be accepted.

This ensures our boutique collection remains fresh, inspiring, and wedding-focused, giving every accepted piece the spotlight it deserves.

We do not accept wedding gowns from Amazon or Shein.

Your Questions, Answered

  • We do not purchase gowns directly. We operate on a consignment model and also accept select donations, depending on what the shop needs at the time. Consignment is a great option for many gowns, allowing them to find a new home while you still receive a portion of the sale!

  • We do not accept bridesmaid, mother of the bride, or prom dresses for consignment.

We do accept wedding gowns, veils, shoes, certain accessories, and bridal celebration outfits!

  • Yes! We do not limit consignment by brand. All gowns are reviewed in person and must meet our consignment standards.

We only accept true bridal gowns and do not accept fashion retailers or non-bridal brands (such as Amazon, Shein, Temu, Azazie, and similar labels).

  • We are open to reviewing wedding gowns of all ages! While we do occasionally accept vintage pieces, they are selected selectively due to space and current demand. We’ve had wonderful success with unique vintage gowns, especially when a bride is looking for something distinctive or has a specific vision in mind.

Our inventory is primarily curated toward modern bridal styles, so vintage gowns are considered on a case-by-case basis depending on style, condition, sizing, alterations and overall fit within the collection.

  • Pricing is determined after the gown is reviewed in person. We do not assign pricing at drop-off, as each piece requires individual evaluation.

We consider current market value by reviewing similar gowns online and on secondhand bridal platforms, along with factors such as condition, designer, alterations, and demand. Our goal is always to price gowns competitively so they reflect current market value and have the best opportunity to sell in-store!

Gowns may also be subject to in-store promotions or discounts during their consignment term as part of our overall sales strategy.

  • Consignor earnings are based on the final selling price of each gown. Items priced at $749 or less earn 40%, and items priced at $750 or more earn 50%.

Payments are processed via ACH and initiated on the 1st of each month for the previous month’s sales.

  • Each consignment term is 5 months, beginning when your item is entered into inventory. You can view your item’s expiration date anytime through your consignor access account.

We don’t send individual reminders when a term is ending, so we recommend keeping an eye on your account and reaching out if you’d like to retrieve any unsold items.

If you’d like your item returned, pickup should be arranged within 5 days after the consignment term ends. Items not picked up within that window become the property of Something Borrowed and may be resold or donated. Items cannot be retrieved prior to the end of the term.
