How It Works
Bring Your Pieces
Schedule an appointment to bring in your gown, accessories, or bridal celebration outfits. Please bring gowns clean, free of major stains or tears, and on a hanger for review.
Item Review
Every piece is reviewed for condition, style, brand, and current demand. We'll go over the consignment details together, answer your questions, and determine which items are a good fit for the shop.
We do not accept wedding gowns from Amazon or Shein.
Priced to Sell
Once accepted, your items are priced based on brand, condition, alterations, and current market demand. Items may be discounted during their consignment term to help them find their next owner. 🤍
Our consignment term is 5 months (150 days) from when your items are processed into inventory. You earn 40% of the final selling price on items selling for $1,499 or less, or 50% on items selling for $1,500 or more. Payouts are made through ACH direct deposit and initiated on the 1st of the month following the sale.

We do not purchase gowns directly. We operate on a consignment model and also accept select donations, depending on what the shop needs at the time. Consignment is a great option for many gowns, allowing them to find a new home while you still receive a portion of the sale!

Drop-off appointments are a chance to review your items in person and determine which pieces are a good fit for Something Borrowed. We’ll go over the consignment details together, and you’ll have a chance to ask any questions before your items are accepted.

If you have a veil, shoes, or other accessories you purchased for your wedding, feel free to bring those along! Bridal celebration outfits, such as reception dresses, rehearsal dinner looks, and other bridal occasion pieces are welcome, too. You never know what another bride might be looking for! The more details you can share about your items, the better.

We do not accept bridesmaid, mother of the bride, or prom dresses for consignment.
We do accept wedding gowns, veils, shoes, certain accessories, and bridal celebration outfits!

Yes! We do not limit consignment by brand. All gowns are reviewed in person and must meet our consignment standards.
We only accept true bridal gowns and do not accept fashion retailers or non-bridal brands (such as Amazon, Shein, Temu, and similar labels).

We are open to reviewing wedding gowns of all ages! While we do occasionally accept vintage pieces, they are selected selectively due to space and current demand. We’ve had wonderful success with unique vintage gowns, especially when a bride is looking for something distinctive or has a specific vision in mind.
Our inventory is primarily curated toward modern bridal styles, so vintage gowns are considered on a case-by-case basis depending on style, condition, sizing, alterations and overall fit within the collection.

Pricing is determined after the gown is reviewed in person. We do not assign pricing at drop-off, as each piece requires individual evaluation.
We consider current market value by reviewing similar gowns online and on secondhand bridal platforms, along with factors such as condition, designer, alterations, and demand. Our goal is always to price gowns competitively so they reflect current market value and have the best opportunity to sell in-store!
Gowns may also be subject to in-store promotions or discounts during their consignment term as part of our overall sales strategy.

40% to the consignor for items that sell for $1,499 or less.
50% to the consignor for items that sell for $1,500 or more.
Payouts are issued by ACH direct deposit on the 1st of the month following the sale. Please allow up to 5 days for funds to arrive in your bank account.

Consignor payouts are issued through ACH direct deposit, which allows us to keep payments organized and track payouts efficiently. When setting up your consignor account, you'll be asked to provide your banking information through our secure consignment portal.
The information requested is the same basic banking information found on the bottom of a paper check. We understand the importance of protecting your financial information and are happy to answer any questions about the process!
Consignor payouts are initiated on the 1st of the month following your sale. Once initiated, please allow up to 5 days for the payment to arrive in your bank account. The initiation date and the date the funds appear in your account may differ depending on bank processing times.

Each consignment term is 5 months (150 days), beginning when your item is entered into inventory. You can view your item’s expiration date anytime through your consignor access account.
We don’t send individual reminders when a term is ending, so we recommend keeping an eye on your account and reaching out if you’d like to retrieve any unsold items.
If you’d like your item returned, pickup should be arranged within 5 days after the consignment term ends. Send us an email and we’ll send you the Consignment Pick-Up Calendar!
Items not picked up within that window become the property of Something Borrowed and may be resold or donated. Items cannot be retrieved prior to the end of the term.
